Check IMEI codes before buying a phone❗️

In our country, an international identification IMEI code registration system has been implemented to adapt telecommunications services to modern standards.

📱 This identification system serves to identify mobile devices, ensure high-quality communication, reduce crimes related to the loss and theft of mobile devices, prevent the trade of counterfeit devices, and ensure information security.

Key Rules:

Mandatory Registration: According to legislation, the registration of mobile devices imported into the republic for sale or personal use, as well as those manufactured domestically, is mandatory.

Importer Responsibility: The responsibility for registering mobile devices lies with the business entities acting as importers.

This means that the IMEI codes of any mobile device you purchase within the republic must already be registered. Otherwise, using the device may cause difficulties.

How to Check?

When purchasing a mobile device, ensure that its IMEI codes are identical to those set by the manufacturer and that it is registered through the Uzimei portal.

Follow these steps:

Dial *#06# on the mobile device. The IMEI codes will appear on the screen.

Compare these codes with the codes printed on the device's box (all codes must match).

Verify the code using the following methods:

Via the uzimei.uz or my.gov.uz websites;

Through the Birda mobile application;

By sending an SMS to the short code 1170.

If the device's IMEI code is not registered or is registered as a different device (a clone), the system will warn you immediately. In the future, such cloned devices will be blocked.

In the first quarter of 2026, 37,500 devices illegally imported into the country were identified.

Due to current cases where mobile devices are illegally imported or registered under the guise of other device types (such as watches, dashcams, etc.) for subsequent sale, we ask you to be vigilant when purchasing a phone.

📱 Stolen Phone: Can the UZIMEI Database Help You Get Your Gadget Back?

Often, the registration system is seen only as an "extra hassle," but it serves a vital function: security. Let's break down how it actually works.

🔹 UZIMEI is not a GPS tracker, but it is a "black mark" for a thief. If your phone is stolen, your first step should be filing a report with law enforcement. The Ministry of Internal Affairs enters the device into a special database as stolen, effectively turning it into a "brick" on any mobile network in Uzbekistan.

How does this help?

Communication Block: A thief won't be able to insert their SIM card and use any mobile communication services.

Resale Difficulties: Anyone buying a used phone can check the IMEI status on the uzimei.uz website. If the device is on the stolen list, the deal will fall through, and the seller will face serious questions.

Devaluation of Theft: The more transparent the database, the less sense it makes to steal smartphones, as they cannot be used within the country.
đź’ˇ Tip: Be sure to save your IMEI code in a safe place (you can find it by dialing *#06# on your device). This is your phone's "passport," which helps prove your ownership.

Security begins with registration. Check your device status right now at uzimei.uz.
