The new requirement was introduced in early 2024. The Customs Committee, with the operator of the UzIMEI system, completed the integration of the systems in October.
The Customs Committee of Uzbekistan commented messages on social networks about the requirement to upload a customs declaration when importing mobile devices into the country.

In October 2023, restrictions on the import of new mobile devices to Uzbekistan were eased. Previously, individuals could only import one mobile device every six months. However, from January 28, 2024, individuals will be permitted to import up to two mobile devices per border crossing.
The total value of one or two phones when entering through the airport must not exceed $2,000 (by train - up to $1,000, by car - up to $300). If the total exceeds $2,000, then duties of 30% are applied to the amount exceeding $2,000, i.e. $300.
Mandatory declaration of new mobile devices has been introduced. The mandatory declaration of new mobile devices must be completed, regardless of whether the goods are subject to customs duties or fall within the maximum import limits. If the customs declaration is not completed, a customs duty of 30% is applied.
When purchasing mobile devices from markets, retail outlets, or online stores, it is important to verify the IMEI registration on the website www.uzimei.uz. If the phone is not registered, the buyer is required to pay the customs duties.
"In order to avoid unnecessary costs, when importing phones, indicate the number of mobile devices in the passenger customs declaration, regardless of whether it is one device or several."
In addition to mobile phones and smartphones, tablets and portable devices with a SIM module (including eSIM) are subject to declaration.
Modems, computers, communication modules, terminals, vehicles and other devices with a SIM module are not subject to declaration.
